]]>Placer gold has been found at Hatchett Creek and Weogufka Creek and the Gold Ridge Mine produced lode gold.
Widely scattered findings are reported along Weogufka Creek, Hatchett Creek and Rockford Placers. Along Weogufka Creek is where the Weogufka Creek Placer and is said to contain pans that run 4-20 colors a pan. At Alum Bluff, near mouth of Hatchett Creek, the Hatchett Creek Placer Mine, gravels were rich enough to have kept 50 men working in 1840, the source of gold was probably in nearby quartz vein carrying decomposed pyrite.
Along Gin House Branch and Carrol and Pole branches was the location of the Rockford Placer which was productive in early years.

]]>Rockford Gun Club, centrally located in Alabama, is a 1,000 yard rifle range, including natural terrain long range rifle setups as well as traditional “square range” style rifle and handgun shooting. This type of distance and natural setup is very rare in Alabama. RGC will also include pistol bays to accommodate practical pistol, and 3 gun style shooting. RGC is conveniently located a short distance off of US Highway 231 in Coosa County. We’re just 69 miles from Birmingham, 55 miles from Auburn, and 35 miles from Montgomery. Rifle RangesPistol Ranges
Membership to RGC is offered as an annual membership. Membership can be paid via cash, check, or credit/debit card. Once you’re approved, you will receive a key card for the gate and can come and go as you please. Membership extends to immediate family members living in the same household. Members can bring one guest per trip to the range.(all guest must submit a signed release form before accessing the range with a member) Shooting hours are from 9 AM until dark. Access to shooting areas is subject to availability. For example, if a match or class is taking up an area of the range, that area will be closed until completion of that event. A valid pistol permit from your state of residence is required to become a member. All members must attend a safety and rules briefing before their gate key will be activated.
The membership fee is $400 per year. For first year members, there is an additional $100 initiation fee.
Rockford is a town in Coosa County, Alabama. At the 2010 census the population was 477. The town is the county seat of Coosa County Alabama.
