DigitalAlabama.com is not a general travel web site. Instead it is for travelers looking for something a little different. We have no ties to travel companies or destinations. In fact, “we” consists of just two tirelessly curious, retired travel fanatics (Terry & Vickie) that believe Alabama has all anyone could ask for. Our goal is to aimlessly travel Alabama and seek out the unique, revisit the past and pass it all on to you so you may be able to plan your very own trip of a lifetime.

Are We Really Different?

Digital Alabama is not a marketing site. It is a travel journal, commentaries on people we meet, places we’ve been and results of hours of research on our scheduled itineararies. Yes, we have content about the “must see” destinations and plenty of “practical information” because a lot of travelers expect it even though it’s dull, dull, dull… and the search engines love it. We’re not so much into champagne and five star motels or travel memoirs. We’re more into the earthy stuff, the local comings and goings and what the local scuttlebutt is. We’re into the local legends and secret history. And, it’s true we only talk about the positives and the safe streets but we all know there is an underside too. Digital Alabama offers to avenues of advertising, Banner / Block Ads and Postings.

Banner & Block Ads:

Advertising in Digital Alabama reaches thousands of interested travel enthusiasts and industry professionals for a reasonable rate.

Technical information: Ads are 250×250 pixels and should be submitted as GIF or JPG files less than 65K in size; although we cannot support Flash ads due to their blockage in email clients, we do support animated GIFs. The Digital Alabama staff can create an ad for you for a small additional charge. Questions about the appearance and creation of ads should be directed to staff@digitalalabama.com.

Postings:

Digital Alabama accepts content for all our categories. If you have an article that you think is appropriate for Digital Alabama, but does not fit into one of these categories, please submit it and we will give it our consideration.

With each submission, we ask that you submit contact information – name, email, phone number – for at least one person in your organization; this information will be published with your release.

If the submission is for an event, the submission should be sent a minimum of three (3) business days before the event. If you have an old submission that is still relevant, please update it before you send it.

All submissions to Digital Alabama intended for publication are solely the responsibility of the company or agent submitting the information. Should material be questionable in content or outside acceptable standards for writing, Digital Alabama will contact the source for clarification prior to publishing said material.

Do not submit any images to which you do not have distribution rights. By submitting images, you are representing that your company or client has full distribution rights to these images -in perpetuity. One-time usage rights generally do not include publication in perpetuity. Please do not presume you have rights simply because you have used an image in the past.

Digital Alabama provides an annual Corporate Membership for those that wish to publish on an ongoing basis including content with images and links. Corporate Memberships are available for a low annual price per calendar year (1 January -31 December). Please note that Corporate Memberships are not prorated.

Submissions submitted without a Corporate Membership will either be rejected or included in a blog post at the editor’s option. We encourage you to add Digital Alabama to your media list even if you don’t plan to use this package service as the material may be deemed newsworthy by our editors. Not-for-profits may submit their material for no charge.

To submit your release, send it in plain text or Microsoft Word format to staff@digitalalabama.com. Submissions will not be acknowledged unless there is a problem, but please contact us if you do not see your submission within three (3) days.

Brochures & Maps:

The research we do, the places we go and the people we meet allows us to create some pretty unique homemade travel brochures and maps. They really do have information you will not find anywhere else. Suggestions & Listings:

We do not charge for articles or listings because we want to remain as non-commercial and independent as possible. We do, however, ask you to consider a donation, anonymous or otherwise. [paypal-donation]
