Elliotts Creek Quail Area

The Elliotts Creek Quail Area is a 3,000-acre area located in the Talladega National Forest within the Oakmulgee Wildlife Management area. Quail hunting season runs from mid November to late February. The forest habitat is being restored and enhanced to attract quail.

Directions:
From the Oakmulgee Ranger District Office, travel Highway 5 south then take a right turn onto Highway 1. Travel until you reach County Road 16 and then turn to the left. Then take a right turn onto Forest Service Road 731. Travel till you reach the intersection of Forest Service Road 707 and Forest Service Road 731. The Bibb County portion of the Elliotts Creek Quail Area is bounded by Forest Service Road 707 on the north and east side. The southern boundary is FS Road 731.

Hamilton Hills Lodge is a family owned whitetail deer hunting lodge. We limit the size of our hunting groups to allow over 1,000 acres per hunter. All of our hunting stands are enclosed "shooting towers" elevated 11 feet off the ground and are very comfortable during rain, cold, and windy conditions. You will hunt winter cereal grain and clover food plots and greenfields, woodland trails and scrapelines, hardwood bottoms, timber clearcuts and cutovers.

Member can setup an RV at camp headquarters, which is a 2-acre concrete pad overlooking a 30-acre lake. Member arranges his/her own electrical service.

A member can harvest 2 bucks, 6 does, 2 gobblers. Dues cover lease, summer and winter plantings for wildlife, feed & mineral sites, water utility, hunting rights, fishing rights, and year-round access to property. Petrey Farms has been operated 20 years on high end QDM program. Deer density is above average. Herd structure and composition is excellent with a 2:1 doe-to-buck ratio and a higher number of bucks in each age class. A shooter buck must be 4.5 years or older. Lake is stocked with bass, bream and crappie. Bass in 10-12 pound range have been caught in recent years. Managed lands in this area produce 140-160 class bucks with an occasional 170s. Members cooperate in management activities such as collecting observation & harvest data, enhancing habitat, maintaining doe:buck ratio, regulating hunting pressure, protecting immature bucks, controlling predators, and selectively harvesting older age class bucks.
