Elmore County Alabama
Elmore County is a county of the State of Alabama. As of the 2010 census, the population was 79,303. Its county seat is Wetumpka. Its name is in honor of General John A. Elmore. Elmore County was created by the Alabama legislature on 1866 Feb.
Fort Jackson and Fort Toulouse are two forts that shared the same site at the fork of the Coosa River and the Tallapoosa River, near Wetumpka, Alabama. The last of a series of forts built, Fort Jackson was the scene of some of the most significant events in American history. Fort Jackson was established in April of 1814 by Major General Andrew Jackson of Tennessee. After Jackson defeated the Red Stick faction of the Creek Nation he moved his army into the heart of the Creek Nation and built Fort Jackson. Georgia attacked white settlements and killed over 400 settlers at Fort Mims. In the resulting Creek War, General Andrew Jackson commanded the combined American forces of Tennessee militia, U.S. regulars, and Cherokee and Southern Creek “White Stick” Indians. Jackson defeated the Red Stick Creeks at the Battle of Horseshoe Bend in 1814, and afterwards initiated construction of a fort atop the site of the old French fort at the confluence of the Coosa and Tallapoosa rivers. The fort was intentionally built near the sacred Creek site known as the Hickory Ground.
Lake Martin is located in Tallapoosa, Elmore and Coosa counties in Alabama. It is a 44,000-acre lake with over 750 miles of wooded shoreline. Lake Martin is a reservoir, formed by the construction of Martin Dam on the Tallapoosa River.
Spectre Alabama
Spectre Alabama is a fictitious town built as a movie set for the movie “Big Fish.” This location is on private property so do not expect to visit without prior permission. Near Millbrook Alabama, the private island used for the film set is mostly weeds now and the majority of the set has rotted away. Although not much of the movie set is left, recent visitors say just seeing the beauty of the place is worth the effort and the admission price ($3.00 last reported). Cities near the movie set, such as Wetumpka, Lowndesboro, Deatsville and Prattville, were also used for parts of the movie.
Prattville Alabama
Prattville Alabama is home for The Cross Garden, Destiny Christian Center, Pueblo de Dios Hispanic Baptist Church, Pratt Mill at Autauga Creek and the Autauga County Board of Education School Bell. The “birthplace of industry” in Alabama was founded by Daniel Pratt and his factory supplied in Prattville supplied most of the cotton gins in the country. The city’s Parks & Recreation department publishes a superb brochure for local events. It is available at City of Prattville Parks & Recreation website. Prattville is located in both Autauga County Alabama and Elmore County Alabama.

The Wetumpka impact crater is the only confirmed impact crater in Alabama, United States. It is located east of downtown Wetumpka in Elmore County. The crater is 4.7 miles (7.6 km) in diameter and its age is estimated to be about 83 million years old (late Cretaceous),[1] based on fossils found in the youngest disturbed deposits, which belong to the Mooreville Chalk Formation. The crater is well preserved, including the original impact rim and breccia, but exposures are few owing to plant and soil cover, and nearly all are on private land.[2]
Thornton L. Neathery discovered the Wetumpka Crater in 1969–70 during regional geological mapping and published the first article on the subject in 1976. However, conclusive evidence of impact origin was lacking until 1998 when David T. King, Jr. and colleagues discovered shocked quartz in a core drilled near the center of the structure.

Among the notable landmarks are the Wetumpka crater and the Jasmine Hill Gardens, with a full-sized replica of theTemple of Hera of Olympia, Greece, the Coosa River that runs through historic downtown Wetumpka, and Fort Toulouse which is also on the Coosa River.
