Cost of Freedom Veterans Museum

Located at 135 S Main Street in Arab Alabama,  Cost of Freedom Veterans Museum displays items from American wars. Museum Director Gene Bishop donated most of the items from his private collection.

Two of the state’s main arteries, AL Highway 231 North/South and AL Highway 69 East/West, come together in the middle of Historic Downtown Arab – a quaint setting, rich with history and bursting with charm.

Baileyton Alabama was settled by Robert Bailey, a farmer from Georgia in 1870 and incorporated in 1973.   The post office was established in 1883.  The town is located in Cullman County. The area that now encompasses Baileyton had scattered settlement during the early nineteenth century, and the town’s namesake, Robert Bailey, was one of the first to build a homestead in the area in 1870. Bailey also ran a cotton gin. Originally part of Blount County, the town became part of Cullman County when it was created in 1877. Baileyton’s population according to the 2010 Census was 610.

Welti Falls is located in the small town of Welti, Alabama. Welti, also known as Dreher, is an unincorporated community in Cullman County. The waterfall was created from the spillway of Forest Ingram Park. This waterfall is beautiful and well worth the hike! HOW TO GET TO WELTI FALLS

Cullman is a city in Cullman County. Cullman is located along Interstate 65, about 50 miles north of Birmingham and about 55 miles south of Huntsville. Cullman was founded by Col. Johann Gottfried Cullmann, a German refugee who came to America in 1866. While working at a bookstore in Cincinnati, Ohio, he began formulating ideas of a special colony of working people – specifically a place for immigrants from countries such as his native Germany.
