Coosa county was one of 14 counties organized from lands ceded by the Creek Indians in the 1832 Treaty of Cusseta. A site on Hatchet Creek was chosen as the county seat and given the name Lexington. In 1835, the name for the county seat was changed to Rockford.

RGC is conveniently located a short distance off of US Highway 231 in Coosa County. We’re just 69 miles from Birmingham, 55 miles from Auburn, and 35 miles from Montgomery.
Lake Martin is located in Tallapoosa, Elmore and Coosa counties in Alabama. It is a 44,000-acre lake with over 750 miles of wooded shoreline. Lake Martin is a reservoir, formed by the construction of Martin Dam on the Tallapoosa River.
