Camp Hall’s Mill

Camp Hall’s Mill

Near present day Rangeline Road and Hwy 90 in Mobile Alabama. “Camp Halls Mill” that was just what it was referred to as by the locals in the area at the time from what I could tell due to the fact that it was located adjacent to halls mill creek! It was officially named Camp Gov. Moore, for the Alabama state Governor at the time, then for some reason it was also known as “Camp Shorter” late in the war, probably due to the fact that a new governor took office around that time!!

Camp Gov. Moore was a training range for Lumden’s Battery, it also had up to 30,000 infantry garrisoned there at one time early in the war according to some accounts including the 21st Alabama infantry, it was also a confederate hospital throughout the war.
